MUSIC

Singer/songwriter Jake La Botz plays roots-drenched music that reflects his time performing in streets, bars, churches, and even tattoo parlors. You can also hear the various places La Botz has lived in his music — including his time in New Orleans, the Mississippi Delta, and his native Chicago where, as a young man, he found kinship with some of the last of the pre-war era bluesmen: David “Honeyboy” Edwards, “Homesick” James, and “Maxwell Street” Jimmy Davis. In 2017 and 2019 Jake released his studio albums Sunnyside and They’re Coming for Me on Hi-Style Records to critical acclaim. Produced by Jimmy Sutton, both albums won Independent Music Awards. Jake has toured extensively in the U.S. and Europe and has shared the stage with Ray Charles, Etta James, Dr. John, Mavis Staples, JD McPherson, Buddy Guy and Junior Wells, Tony Joe White, Low Cut Connie and a host of other greats.
ACTING

“Acting’s what I wanted to do as a kid, so I bought a second-hand suit and volunteered as an usher to see live theatre for free,” La Botz recalls. “I wanted to be near the action, and the magic, the mythology and the storytelling, that creativity. Later in life I crashed a movie premiere (which is something everyone in LA ought to do at some point), and there I met Steve Buscemi; I invited him to a gig, and he actually came out! Such a cool guy.” Buscemi began to frequent La Botz’ shows, and the two struck up a friendship; before long, Buscemi was set to direct a film (Animal Factory), and wrote in a role for La Botz. From there, La Botz went on to act in a number of other films including Rambo, On the Road, and The Grace of Jake. He also starred in the stage musical Ghost Brothers of Darkland County written by Stephen King and John Mellencamp.

MEDITATION

Jake La Botz is a Somatic Meditation teacher trained by Dharma Ocean lineage holders Reggie Ray and Caroline Pfohl. He has been practicing and studying for twenty years within the Vajrayana Buddhist tradition. Professionally a songwriter and touring musician Jake enjoys sharing the view and practices of Somatic Meditation with others in a personal and earthy way.

London-based rap enigma Onoe Caponoe is gearing up to bring his signature, psychedelic live energy to a stage near you in celebration of his latest album ‘Concrete Fantasia’.

Psychedelic hip hop influenced by the ethereal space funk of Funkadelic and Sun Ra, the stripped back rawness of punk rock and the unpredictable nature of psychedelic rock.

According to The Wire, “Onoe Caponoe has been meandering through fevered dioramas fusing Lewis Carroll and George Clinton with hazy abandon, riding his own wave oblivious in the expectation his audience will catch up. His latest album ‘Concrete Fantasia’ feels like an artist out of his shell demanding attention, facing up to his demons, capturing the manic psychedelic energy of his live shows, progressing from purveyor of interesting diversions into enlightened tour guide for a better, or at least more colorful, sequence of realities.”

In crystal clear communication with the mothership; littered with striking references to fantastical realms and uncommon lore, but very much anchored in the inner city blocks and smoggy roadsides that inform his everyday, ‘Concrete Fantasia’ is a dark fantasy tape that expertly blurs the lines between genres, moods and character profiles.

Endlich ist es soweit. No Brain Battery bringen ihren neuen Longplayer heraus und das ganze soll mit einem fulminanten Konzert gefeiert werden.
Als ende 2013 die kleine Band "No Brain Battery" von Torsten und Tara gegründet wurde, war noch nicht abzusehen, welchen Weg die Band gehen werden. Da Torben bei den Batterys schon bekannt war und Tara ihn bei einem gemeinsamen Vorgänger-Bandprojekt zu schätzen gelernt hatte, wurde der damalige Posten am E-Bass bereits gefunden und besetzt. Nachdem man sich beschnupperte und 2015 fleißig waren, folgte 2016 die erste Demo CD. Die Band wollte noch mehr und Torben wollte an die 2. Gitarre. Mit Kevin stieß dann 2016 das fehlende Puzzlestück dazu und "No Brain Battery" waren komplett.
Nachdem nun einige Konzerte gespielt wurden und 2018 eine EP mit fünf Songs veröffentlichten, schloss man sich 2019 im Proberaum ein. Dabei sind 10 Nummern heraus gekommen, die im Januar 2020 eingetütet wurden. Ganze drei Jahre sind seit dem vergangen. Feinschliff, fehlende Motivation (Lockdown lässt grüßen) und dann endlich 2022 wieder Live auf der Bühne zu sein, haben dafür gesorgt, dass der Tonträger einen langen Reifungsprozess hinter sich hat.
